Maria Sotomayor earned her medical degree from Federico Villarreal National University in Lima, Peru. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, where she served as a Chief Resident in Academics.
In addition to her clinical training, Dr. Sotomayor previously served as a clinical researcher in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Miami School of Medicine, as well as the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health and the Cutaneous Oncology Program at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.
Dr. Sotomayor joined Tampa Palms Dermatology in 2005. After ten years of productive practice, she moved to Washington, DC, to join the Dermatology Department at George Washington University, where she served as an Assistant Professor. In 2019, she joined Anne Arundel Dermatology in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Dr. Sotomayor is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Florida West Coast Dermatology Society, and the Women’s Dermatology Society. She is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions in adults and children, as well in cosmetic dermatology, including Botox and fillers.
She is bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish.
