Harrison G. Bartels, MD, is a Facial Plastic Surgeon specializing in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, head, and neck, including Mohs reconstruction. Dr. Bartels is board-certified with the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and is board-eligible with the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
While Dr. Bartels is new to Tampa, he is a native of the Southeast. He grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, and graduated from The University of South Carolina. He earned his medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
Dr. Bartels completed five years of residency training in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Virginia under the highly-regarded facial plastic surgeon Dr. Stephen Park. During residency, he developed a particular interest in cosmetic facial plastic surgery and pursued additional fellowship training with Dr. Edward Farrior at Farrior Facial Plastic Surgery in Tampa.
During fellowship training, Dr. Bartels operated extensively with Dr. Farrior and gained experience in cosmetic surgical techniques, including the deep plane facelift, endoscopic brow lift, and revision rhinoplasty, among others. Concurrently, as a University of South Florida faculty member, Dr. Bartels worked closely with the ENT residents and had the honor of serving our nation’s veterans at the Tampa VA hospital, where he gained extensive experience performing primary and revision rhinoplasty.
Prior to moving back to Tampa, Dr. Bartels fulfilled a longtime dream of living overseas and worked as a consultant otolaryngologist for Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand Southern in Invercargill, New Zealand. There, he gained additional experience in facial reconstruction following skin cancer resection, functional and cosmetic rhinoplasty, scar revision, and facial rejuvenation.
Dr. Bartels has recently joined both Farrior Facial Plastic Surgery and PHDermatology where he practices the full compliment of Facial Plastic Surgery and skin cancer reconstruction.
